As the Outdoor Educator Program Coordinator for the Prairie Learning Centre with Chinook School Division No. 211, you are a dynamic, energetic and creative educator. You will coordinate and assist in the delivery of the outdoor studies program where your classroom is the native prairie. The Prairie Learning Centre has a vision to foster a rich connection to native prairie through innovative learning opportunities for high school students, post-secondary students and their educators. The Prairie Learning Centre is a collaborative educational partnership; with Grasslands National Park of Canada and Chinook School Division No. 211 as its 2005 founding educational members.

Duties generally will include:
• Deliver curriculum associated with the Prairie Learning Centre including Distance Learning courses in the following areas:
– Biology, Native Studies & Wildlife
• Coordinate and organize school learning engagement with the Prairie Learning Centre
• Deliver established programs
• Expand and develop experiential, hands-on courses/workshops/activities to support the PLC outdoor studies program
• Liaise with Grasslands National Park of Canada to coordinate resource personnel who will support the delivery of the outdoor studies program
• Support the marketing efforts for the outdoor studies program to schools and educators through updating website, quarterly brochures and email newsletter
• Manage the program budget and actively seek external sources of program funding
• Nurture ongoing partnership development and opportunities
• Book schools and groups for programs for spring and fall series programming
• Serve as a liaison between resource personnel, teachers and students and other educational organization
• Support the ongoing awareness of the program within Val Marie School, the community and Chinook School Division
• Deliver reports: annual activity summary, funding and program evaluations

Qualifications:
• Sask. Professional A Teaching Certificate or equivalent
• Proven ability to self-evaluate for personal and professional growth
• Demonstrated ability to connect with youth in a student-centered learning environment in addition to having an interest or willingness to connect with students in the natural prairie environment
• A willingness to be part of a collaborative educational team
• Professional learning community knowledge and background
• Ability to work effectively within an environment which includes developing meaningful and productive relationships with students, parents, professionals and community service agencies
• Graduation with related degree(s) from a recognized University with a specialization in education, communication, resource management, conservation biology/ecology degree and/or experience delivering outdoor environmental education programs
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with educators and resource specialists
• Appreciation and familiarity with the native prairie and its potential as an educational setting
• Experience developing and delivering interactive experiential outdoor learning programs
• Valid driver’s license

Salary: Salary commensurate with experience and education or as per the Saskatchewan Teachers’ grid. Upon application, please indicate salary expectations.
