Island Oysters Shuck Bar is a pop-up food stand and catering service
located in Toronto. We are looking for an experienced, organized,
innovative, personable and passionate person to join our growing team.
Our main offering are oysters, however we also carry other sustainable
seafood products from Canada.

This is a part time position with lots of room for growth for the
right individual. Thorough training will be provided to the right
candidate with a strong foundation of suitable experience and
qualifications.

Experience Preferred:
• Line/prep cook, service industry experience
• Oyster shucking experience, preferably over 10,000 shucked
• Knowledge of oyster natural history, cultivation, varieties,
• Education or Sustainability Communications experience
• Atlantic Canadian or West Coast roots would be preferred

Responsibilities:
• Setting up and tearing down pop-up food stands
• Selecting, procuring, cleaning, storing, shucking & serving oysters
• Educating customers on the nutritional and environmental benefits of
oysters and other sustainable seafood choices.
• Providing information to customers on different oyster growing
methods, varieties, regions, taste profiles and sauce pairing.
• Developing new market stands, partnerships and event opportunities.
• Developing sustainable seafood retail opportunities.

Qualifications:
• Own Vehicle strongly preferred but not necessary
• Culinary training or experience preferred and Food Handler’s
Certificate will be required.
• Relevant post-secondary education
• Comfortable with public speaking and engaging clients
• Ability to lift 50-60lbs
• Knowledge of and connection with Toronto’s Food & Sustainability
communities preferred.
• Knowledge of sustainable seafood labeling such as Ocean Wise is preferred
