General Job Description:

LifeCycles Project Society is looking for a Project Coordinator for
our Growing Schools Pro

gram. This position reports to the Director.
The Growing Schools Program Coordinator is responsible for ensuring
delivery of all school workshops to Growing Schools partner schools,
managing the Growing Schools Budget, supporting the Education
Coordinator of the PEPÁ?E? HÁUTW Blossoming Place tribal school
project, liaise with teachers, developing new areas of programming,
managing and updating workshop materials and documents, networking
with other key partners, keeping abreast of the latest in garden
education and supporting other staff and the team at LifeCycles with
various events and fundraising as needed.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated knowledge and/or experience
in organic agriculture, garden creation, volunteer coordination,
program development, budgeting management, social media, e-mail
organizing, lesson planning, curriculum development, workshop delivery
in food growing, garden creation and food literacy skills, and
training facilitation. The candidate will possess excellent
organizational, written and verbal communication skills, including
editing, as well as office, computer & social media management skills.
A candidate who also has fundraising, communications, native plant
knowledge and food literacy workshop delivery skills, would be a
fantastic fit for our team. This position requires a person who has a
commitment to, and thorough understanding of, food security and an
understanding of the interrelationship between food insecurity, health
and poverty.

Start date: December 01, 2014

Length of Contract: Until June 30th 2015, with possible extension

Hours per week: 18-20 hours/week, two weeks unpaid Christmas leave in
December. There may be opportunities for expansion of the weekly hours
of this position based on skill set, in particular fundraising and
food literacy workshop delivery skills.

Wage: $18-22hr depending on experience

Key Responsibilities:
• Volunteer recruitment: through email, social media, attending key
outreach events
• Recruiting and securing new school partners
• Communication with teachers around workshop coordination and details
• Train and coordinate volunteers to deliver workshops
• Schedule and ensure the delivery of all school workshops
• Coordinate materials acquisition and delivery for workshops
• Maintain workshop materials in good condition and replace/repair
where necessary
• Support the PEPÁ?E? HÁUTW Education Coordinator as needed in
fundraising, curriculum development, lesson planning, event planning,
volunteer recruitment, and/or site management for 5 hours a week
• Seeking funding, supporting grant writing and delivering
presentations to potential donors
• Seeking business partners and other funders to ‘adopt a school’
• Track all volunteer hours and expenditures
• Support general LifeCycles office and outreach duties
• Strategically develop Growing Schools Programs as opportunities
present themselves
• Work in collaboration with other members of the LifeCycles team to
find overlap in programming, and support other team members in food
literacy workshop delivery when needed.
• Attend staff meetings, trainings and various staff and volunteer events.
• Network with partner organizations and look for opportunities for
greater impact through partnerships

Key Qualifications:
• Excellent organizational skills, budgeting, project coordination and
multi-tasking
• Must work well independently and as part of a team
• Commitment to and awareness of food, health and sustainability issues
• Familiarity with the non-profit sector and LifeCycles work
• Ability to lead and oversee volunteers and practicum students
• Proficiency in word processing, data input, excel, public speaking,
writing, gmail, social media and report writing
• Experience training, supervising and managing a team of at least 25
volunteers and/or staff
• Minimum 2 years organic farming/market gardening experience or
related training
• Experience developing, coordinating, facilitating and delivering
workshops to youth from diverse backgrounds
