Renewal focuses on early stage growth companies with between $1 and
$20 million dollars in annual revenue. The core investment sectors are
organic and natural foods, green products and environmental
innovation. The investment team at Renewal looks for passionate,
values-aligned entrepreneurs and management teams that it can support
through its capital, networks and expertise. Renewal invests in
sectors that are traditionally underserved by venture capital funds
since they do not provide the short term hockey stick growth that
successful technology firms have exhibited in the past. Rather,
Renewal provides patient capital, looking to be true partners with
their investee companies for five to seven years; further, Renewal is
comfortable with businesses expanding at double, rather than triple,
digit growth rates. After a first round investment, Renewal reserves
capital for follow-on investments to support its investee companies as
they grow and need to build infrastructure, fund
growth and/or add to their management teams. Renewal works hard to
bring valuable, tangible resources to their portfolio companies.
The Renewal team has invested in some of North America’s leading
environmental and social mission businesses and has $98 million under
management.
Senior Associate
Today we are expanding and want to add a Senior Associate to our team
who can add value by bringing in new ideas and interesting
investments. The ideal candidate for this position is someone who is
aligned with our values. An individual who believes that businesses
need to operate in a sustainable manner and who wants to use their
skills to support companies with a strong environmental and/or social
mission. We need a diligent researcher and an effective networker to
help search out interesting and forward thinking companies for us to
partner with and invest in. Someone with strong analytical skills and
a fresh perspective who can use those qualities to identify strong
business models.
The Senior Associate will work with the team to identify, perform due
diligence on and support companies that have the potential for strong
social, environmental and financial return. Investments generally take
the form of direct equity investments in portfolio companies providing
growth capital. While technical skills are important cultural fit with
the Renewal team and alignment of core values and sense of
purpose/mission are paramount.
Specific responsibilities include:
• Private company due diligence
• Sector research
• Financial modeling
• Portfolio administration
• Investor communications
This position reports directly to our CEO in a flat, empowered

Qualifications
• Experience in the one of the areas of venture capital, private
equity, accounting, investment banking, asset management or management
consulting.
• Experience in a role requiring strong research, Excel and financial
modelling skills.
• Evidence of personal engagement in in, or desire for, social and
environmental change.
Education
• A degree in finance, law, economics, or business administration will
enhance the candidate’s qualifications.
