Job Description:

The Boreal Centre for Bird Conservation (BCBC) is an exciting
education and research centre located 2.5 hours north west of Edmonton
in Lesser Slave Lake Provincial Park. We are looking for a creative
individual to deliver fun, interactive and hands-on environmental
education programming about birds and the boreal forest for audiences
of all ages. Working as member of our team, the Boreal Interpreter
will be responsible for the planning and delivery of exciting and
informative programs for a wide ranging audience including families,
school groups, tourists and seniors. Other duties may include:
conducting tours of the Lesser Slave Lake Bird Observatory Banding
Lab; providing visitor and information services at the BCBC, helping
with special events, and assisting with Park summer interpretive
programs. The position will also deliver fieldtrip and classroom
programs for our education partner; the Lesser Slave Forest Education
Society.On-site rental accommodation is available at
  the Boreal Centre. for Bird Conservation.Note: this position will be
an employee of the Lesser Slave Lake Bird Observatory Society.

Required Qualifications:
• Minimum of 2 year of post-secondary education in natural sciences or
education.
• Preference will be given to candidates registered as a full time
student in a post-secondary institution in 2014/2015 and will be
returning as a full time student in the fall.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license
• Standard First Aid and CPR Certificate prior to commencement
• Criminal Record Check (Including a vulnerable sector check) will be
required prior to commencement.
• Able to work some evenings and most weekends during peak summer period.

Assets:
• Experience working with children, especially in an outdoor setting.
• Knowledge of boreal forest ecology including birds and bird identification
• Volunteer experience
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Excellent presentation skills
