Overview: Evergreen is seeking an energetic individual with an
interest in community engagement and program development to help
deliver an environmental stewardship, food growing and Aboriginal
cultural programming.

This is a 12 month full-time contract o

pportunity offered in
partnership with Miziwe Biik Aboriginal Employment and Training and
Service Canada. The Aboriginal Skills and Employment Training Strategy
(ASETS) is an integrated approach to Aboriginal labour market
programming and ensures that Canada’s Aboriginal people can fully
participate in economic opportunities.

Applicants must be able to register at Miziwe Biik Aboriginal
Employment and Training (First Nations, Inuit or Métis background) and
have been recently unemployed or underemployed. Please self-identify

Key Responsibilities:
• Support project manager in delivering community engagement programs
in underserviced neighbourhoods throughout the GTA, with a particular
focus on urban food growing, environmental restoration, health
promotion, and eco-Aboriginal programming
• liaise with community partners and social service agencies to plan
and deliver outreach activities including creating resources and
delivering workshops
• Assist in the development of project communication tools
• Participate in outreach and networking activities including
presentations, meetings and community/professional events
• Help implement an evaluation and reporting plan.

• Supervised by: Project Manager, Greenspace
• Supervises: Volunteers (as applicable)

Qualifications:
• Applicants must be able to register at Miziwe Biik Aboriginal
Employment and Training (First Nations, Inuit or Métis background) and
have been recently unemployed or underemployed. Please self-identify

• Post-secondary degree/diploma, other training, or equivalent
experience in health promotion, environmental studies, urban
agriculture, social services, community development or related
discipline
• 1-2 years work experience
• Experience working with urban Aboriginal communities
• Public and volunteer-engagement experience
• Valid driver’s license required
• Police Record Check required

Working conditions:
• This is a full-time position based in our Toronto office
• Includes working with vulnerable populations
• Requires some evening / weekend work as required
• Requires some travel to Miziwe Biik and across GTA
