What
you will do:

  • The
    issuance of permits in accordance with the regulations passed under
    Section 28 of the Conservation Authorities Act.
  • Provide
    advice to the public regarding the Conservation Authority’s mandate,
    regulations, permits, development policies and environmentally significant
    areas.
  • Conduct
    site inspections as required and investigate and negotiate a resolution
    related to permits issued by the Conservation Authority.
  • Assist
    in the Authority’s Flood Warning and Forecasting System as required.
  • Consult
    with land use planning agencies regarding LSRCA policies and procedures on
    various land use planning and regulation issues.
  • Perform
    other related duties as directed by the Manager, Planning, Regulations and
    Enforcement.

Hours
of work:  35 hour work week, Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm
Qualifications:
What
you offer:
  • A
    post-secondary education in Environmental Sciences, Geography or other
    related fields and three to five years experience.
  • A
    working knowledge of Section 28 of the Conservation Authorities Act and
    regulation and other environmental legislation, planning statements and
    technical guidelines.
  • Knowledge
    and experience in evaluation of construction plans and technical reports
    such as
  • Environmental
    Impact Statements and ability to relate them to development applications.
  • Experience
    with Conservation Authorities, Municipalities or Government Agencies an
    asset.
  • Strong
    interpersonal, communication and written abilities are required.
  • Applicants
    must have a strong background and related job experience with the
    Microsoft Office software suite, and use of digital mapping software.
  • As
    this position works in a fast-paced team environment, team building skills
    and the ability to deal with change are essential.
  • A
    valid driver’s license.
