CONTROL OPERATOR/PRODUCTION/SHOOTER – PART TIME

Requirements:

  • Versatility,
    technical prowess, and ability to learn quickly
  • Certification
    at a recognized post-secondary institution in the area of broadcasting or
    applicable field
  • A
    positive attitude coupled with the ability to work and contribute in a team
    environment
  • The
    ability to multi-task and make quick and appropriate decisions, often
    under pressure
  • Provide
    superior professional service to internal and external clients

Technical
Proficiencies:

  • Familiarity
    with industry terminology
  • Working
    knowledge of Final Cut Pro would be a definite asset
  • Experience
    shooting for news or commercial production is also a strong asset

Duties:

  • Report
    to the Manager – TV Operations
  • Operate
    CHAT and CFCN master control consoles
  • Ensure
    all video and audio signals are going to air at acceptable levels
  • Schedule
    recording of incoming satellite feeds
  • Switch
    sources according to program logs and CRTC regulations
  • Communicate
    with network technicians
  • Record
    correct information on logs
  • Follow
    proper communications and faulting procedures
  • Back-up
    duties in news production
  • Back-up
    duties for ENG/EFP
  • Other
    related duties as assigned

Shifting and
Probation:

  • This is
    a shift-work position with occasional overtime required
  • Probationary
    period is 6 months.
