spending the summer outside involved in di
fferent urban farming
projects, meeting great people and eating great food?
The successful candidate must be a student, returning to studies in
2015/2016. This position is collaboration between Canmore Community
Garden (canmorecommunitygardening.org) and Alpine Edible
Schoolyards
(farmbox.ca/alpine-edible-schoolyards/). The successful
candidate will
work with both organizations in the community garden, in schoolyard
farms and on special community events throughout the summer.
Duties & Responsibilities
In the Garden:
• Go-to person for gardener queries
• Coordinating gardeners and volunteers
• Managing maintenance and general upkeep of the garden
• Regular correspondence with gardeners via email
In the Schoolyard farms:
• Planting, watering, weeding and harvesting activities
• Farm maintenance
• Coordinating volunteers and daily tasks
• Preparing produce for market sale
Qualifications
• Great communication skills
• Great organization skills
• Comfortable in a lead role – delegating tasks, organizing people
• Interest in food and agriculture
• Inquisitive mind
• Friendly, open, pleasant manner
• Must have your own computer to work on
• Driver License, an asset
This Position Offers
• $14/hour, 40 hours/week: May 18th – Sept. 30th (or till return to school)
