require the help of an experienced produce buyer. We source directly from both
farmers and wholesalers and we are looking to build a massive network of
certified organic farms and suppliers to help bring clean food to all. You will
have the opportunity to build many skills, relationships, and systems when you
join us.
Requirements:
• An extensive knowledge of the certified organic produce supply chain in
Ontario
• An understanding of certified organic regulations
• An extensive knowledge of produce: how to store it, how to quality control
it, and how to buy the best quality items that won’t go bad tomorrow
• Strong Math and Excel skills to build forecasts of our customer buying
patterns
• A positive, helpful, and hardworking disposition
Roles and Responsibilities
• Reach out to local farmers to source produce directly from them
• Reach out to international farmers and wholesalers and purchase from them
• Develop relationships within the Ontario Food Terminal for produce purchasing
• Negotiate the most competitive pricing with all suppliers
• Assist with other purchasing decisions and activities throughout the company
• Ensure that we are only buying good quality produce
• Assist the packing teams with their quality control measures
• Many other interesting and challenging projects that are part of our quickly
growing, young company
