Saltire Scholarships at Scottish Higher Education Institutions in UK

Scottish
Government and Scottish Higher Education Institutions is offering Saltire
Scholarships for students of Canada, India, Pakistan, USA or the
People’s Republic of China. The scheme offers up to 100 Scholarships to pursue
undergraduate, masters or PhD degree at any of Scotland’s higher
education institutions.
The
primary aim of the scholarship programme is to raise the profile of Scotland as
a place to live, work and study in key overse

as markets – in line with the
International Framework – and to showcase the best of Scottish higher
education.

The
devolved government for Scotland has a range of responsibilities which include:
health, education, justice, rural affairs, housing and the environment. Some
powers are reserved to the UK government and include: immigration, the
constitution, foreign policy and defence.

Level:
Scholarships
are available for pursuing undergraduate, masters or PhD degree level
at any of Scotland’s higher education institutions.
Study
Subject(s):
The
scholarships are designed to support the promotion of Scotland as a learning
nation and a science nation.

Scholarship
Award:
 The
scheme offers up to 100 awards, each worth £4,000, towards the cost of tuition
fees of a one-year full time Undergraduate, Masters or PhD course at any of
Scotland’s higher education institutions.nts.

Eligibility:
In
order to be eligible for a Saltire Scholarship, candidates must:
-Have a conditional or unconditional offer of a place at a Scottish university
on an eligible course before an application can be considered.
-Be a citizen of Canada, India, Pakistan, USA or the People’s Republic of China
(Hong Kong also being eligible as it is a Special Administrative Region of
China).
-Be able to demonstrate that they can meet the costs of living in Scotland and
the remaining tuition fees.
-Complete an application form and submit it to their selected institution by
the closing date of 1st May 2016.
-Not have previously studied for a full undergraduate degree in Scotland.
-Not have previously received a Saltire Scholarship.
Nationality: Citizen of Canada,
India, Pakistan, USA or the People’s Republic of China can apply for this
scholarship.

Admission Requirement
Entrance
Requirement: To undertake Scottish education applicant will need to find out
whether their qualifications are accepted in Scotland. Students are required to
contact the National Academic Recognition Information Centre for the United
Kingdom (UK NARIC). UK NARIC works on behalf of the UK government
Department for Education and Skills, and provide a service comparing
international and UK academic qualifications.

UK
NARIC can provide applicant with a letter of comparability that gives a
potential employer or education establishment the UK equivalents of their
qualifications. However, it can only provide assessment statements for fully
completed qualifications. For a Letter of Comparability, applicant will
need to submit the following documents:
-A photocopy of their certificate(s) together with transcript(s)
-A copy of a certified translation in English if necessary-they can get this
from a translation agency
-A covering letter, in English, from themself stating the purpose of their
enquiry
