manager? Regenesis York is looking for someone whose event management and
communication expertise can make a measured, positive impact in awareness and
participation for our sustainability initiatives within the York University
community.
What
can I expect to do in this role?
Reporting
to the Executive Director, you will steward and improve the Regenesis York
brand and broader public image. The brand starts with outreach communications
but should be measured and reinforced through touchpoints on campus with
Regenesis York: from internal manager communications to volunteers, to engaging
external community members and stakeholders at meetings and events, Regenesis
York must reflect our professional, friendly and productive efforts at York.
Your
assessing and improving Regenesis York’s positive image in the community, as
reflected in metrics (program participation and surveys, etc.) will be key to
stakeholder approval, securing partnerships and winning grants. Beneficial
skills and experience include delegation, leadership of events, coordination to
meet goals and tight timelines; skills as a graphic designer or copyediting are
also appreciated.
As
a director, your experience both developing communications and events for
diverse audiences and leading staff to do so, will help Regenesis York reach
different stakeholder groups, greatly assisting with meeting annual fundraising
and participation targets. Your leadership and strong interpersonal skills will
help initiate and develop media relations to promote Regenesis York’s mission
and vision in order to increase its publicity in the local and national media.
To
be successful as the Communications and Events Director you demonstrate the

    releases, social media messages and media articles.

    communications materials are accurate and consistent with the brand
    policies.

Qualifications
University
degree in a related field supplemented by a minimum of 1 year related experience
which demonstrates the competencies noted above. Equivalencies will be
considered.

Role
and Responsibilities
Reporting
to the Executive Director, the Communications & Events Director will
provide oversee all aspects of Regenesis York’s communications and events.
Responsibilities include overseeing the creation of all of our communications
materials for our diverse stakeholders including customers, program
participants, community members, partners, donors, policy makers, educators,
the general public and more. More specifically, the Director will take
responsibility for assuring that brand standards and guidelines are maintained,
that the Regenesis website and social media channels are fresh and up-to-date,
and will maintain media relations. Event duties will include coordinating a
team of volunteers, identifying potential event themes, event partners and
targeted population segments, ensuring marketing and PR for the event, securing
a venue, arranging catering or speakers as required, and supervising set-up and
take-down at the event.
Communications
  • Write
    and/or design/prepare communications materials (website postings,
    newsletters, brochures, postcards, templates, manuals, learning tools,
    photos, media releases, donor correspondence, presentations, etc.)
  • Maintain
    brand standards and enforce style guidelines in all Regenesis
    communications vehicles
  • Oversee
    production and distribution of marketing materials including, brochures,
    event programs, posters, show and event signage
  • Assist
    in the development and implementation of communication strategies,
    materials and tools to build awareness of Regenesis and our programs
  • Garner
    press and publicity for Regenesis, its events and initiatives, through
    sending out press releases, submitting stories to press outlets, and
    soliciting journalists, freelance journalists and student writers to write
    about Regenesis, its events and projects
  • Update
    Regenesis website, review and approve website postings by Regenesis
    program staff
  • Create
    and execute strategic social marketing campaigns and routinely monitor
    Regenesis presence on relevant online communities and social media
    websites
  • Coordinating
    and implementing all social media initiatives
  • Liaise
    and collaborate with program staff and other stakeholders as necessary to
    support their communication needs
  • Coordinate
    Regenesis speaking engagements and media appearances
Events
  • Event
    planning in collaboration with members and external partners
  • Event
    marketing and promotions
  • Execute
    the venue selection and organizing all venue logistics
  • Monitor
    event expense budgets, keeping team updated on all aspects of event costs
  • On-site
    event management
  • Engage,
    train and manage relationships with event volunteers
  • Ensure
    events comply will all government regulations
Outreach
  • Coordinating
    community engagement and outreach activities, including booth management
  • Develop
    opportunities for event collaboration between Regenesis York and other
    organizations
Manage
volunteers
  • Manage
    volunteers and develop the existing volunteers into a strong, highly
    motivated and well-coordinated team capable of addressing Regenesis York’s
    events and communications needs
  • Assist
    with the recruitment, selection, orientation and training, and evaluation
    of volunteers
