The Joint
Secretariat seeks a highly motivated individual with training or experience in
program and personnel management to lead the Community Based Monitoring Program
(CBM) within the Inuvialuit Settlement R

egion (ISR). The program goal is to
implement a long-term monitoring program of Inuvialuit harvest-based wildlife
and related environmental observations.

Reporting to the
Executive Director of the Joint Secretariat, the Coordinator will design, plan
and manage the operational delivery of CBM functions, coordinate ongoing
initiatives, and support monitoring activities of the 6 ISR communities.
Activities are primarily in office; however, travel will be required both
within and outside of the ISR.

The qualified
applicant should possess a university or technical degree in a relevant field
or an equivalent level of experience. The individual should be well organized,
experienced in a program or project management, exhibit tact and good judgment
and be capable of forming and leading successful teams in program operations at
the community level in remote areas. Familiarity with the structure and
functions of the Inuvialuit Final Agreement, its various organizations and
resulting responsibilities is an asset. Familiarity with Inuvialuktun is
desirable, but not essential.

Experience with
personal computer based systems, budgeting; proposal writing and demonstrated
analytical and problem solving skills are essential. Written and oral
communication skills are a requirement to effectively represent the CBM Program
and the Joint Secretariat when working alongside a variety of government and
non-government organizations.

Salary scale will be
commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the successful
candidate. The benefits package includes a Settlement Allowance of $5,425.
Housing Allowance of $6,000. Pension Benefit of 6% of base salary (all benefits
are per annum). There is also a Vacation Travel Benefit of $4,000 after one
