Canadian Organic Growers Digital Education Coordinator Job Vacancy in Ottawa, Ontario

Canadian Organic Growers is a registered charity that produces educational
materials to help farmers and gardeners adopt sustainable, organic production
methods. Our materials include workshops, webinars, certificate courses,
printed and digital handbooks, awareness campaigns and The Canadian Organic
Grower magazine published three times a year.

We’re currently looking for a full-time intern to join our team at the national
office and help improve our web-based training resources available for organic
farmers. This is an exciting opportunity to gain experience in project
coordination, learn more about sustainable agriculture and help develop
educational resources and tools for Canadian farmers.

The intern will:
• Research, compile and identify gaps in existing organic farming research and
educational material from organizations across Canada;
• Develop stream-lined, user-friendly online platforms for accessing
sustainable organic and ecological farming research and information;
• Build content and user-friendly applications into COG’s new website and
update and maintain the existing TCOG magazine website;
• Develop and maintain a blog on sustainable organic and ecological farming
that will increase awareness of environmentally beneficial farming practices;
• Improve the functionality of COG’s digital lending library to increase
accessibility to organic farming resources and improve ease of site management;
• Provide IT assistance and support to the office.

Essential Qualifications:
• Proven experience developing, designing and maintaining websites, using
Wordpress, HTML and PHP.
• Strong IT skills including programming, coding and database creation, and
providing technical support.
• Able to develop visually-appealing and educational graphic design content
(using Adobe Photoshop and InDesign).
• Excellent written communications, including writing, editing and proofreading
skills, particularly for web content.
• Research and analysis skills; ability to compile large quantities of data and
present an analysis in simple, visually-appealing manner.
• Strong time management skills, with the ability to manage both short and
long-term projects.
• Able to work as part of a team but also take initiative and a leadership role
on projects.

Asset Qualifications:
• Diploma in Computer Science, IT, Web Development or Graphic Design
• Experience filming, editing and producing video content
• Knowledge of sustainable/ecological agriculture systems
• Demonstrated creativity in previous work experience and/or extracurricular
activities

Candidates must:
• Be Canadian post-secondary graduates;
• Be 30 years or younger when they start the internship
• Must not have participated in any other Youth Employment Strategy programs
(ie. Career Focus);
• Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
