The White Ensign Association was founded in 1958 to help personnel of all ranks leaving the Royal Navy and Royal Marines with both civilian employment guidance and personal, confidential, unbiased financial advice. A further object of the charity was to assist those considering setting up their own business. Over the years the Association has steadily grown in operation, output and importance and is now firmly established as a prime link between the serving Royal Navy and the City, Commerce, and Industry. Its roles remain as originally established and the current staff also provide presentations on financial capability to naval personnel and broad guidance to serving and former members of the Naval Services on general personal welfare matters.
The Role
• Management and direction of all the Association’s charitable activities responsible to the Chairman and Council of Management.
• Execution of a challenging presentational and casework load in direct contact with those the charity helps and supports.
• Provision of first class leadership and communication to the Association’s staff team and to the charity’s many advisors, members and supporters.
• Development of the Association’s profile, influence and output within the Royal Navy and Royal Marines, amongst former naval personnel and across commerce and industry.
The Candidate
• Will have served (or be serving) in the Royal Navy or Royal Marines and be likely to have attained the rank of, at least, Commander or Lt Col RM.
• An individual of unimpeachable integrity with outstanding people skills at all levels. A natural listener, with sound judgement and a caring, compassionate manner that quickly gains the confidence and trust of others.
• An individual with a firm desire to work for a charity, possessing an established knowledge of and interest in personal finance and employment matters.
• A confident, effective leader and senior executive of flair and energy, able to develop the charity at a busy time within sensible resource parameters.
