The Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo during the PMB/PYO Volunteers Appreciation Dinner at the State House Banquet Hall on Thursday in Abuja, has advised the All Progressives Congress (APC) members not to relax or take anything for granted ahead of the March 23 governorship rerun elections in Adamawa, Bauchi, Benue, Kano, Plateau and Sokoto states.
The rerun elections were scheduled by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for March 23 after elections results for governorship were declared inconclusive in Adamawa, Bauchi, Benue, Kano, Plateau and Sokoto states.
The Vice President expressed his appreciations for the total commitment and trust displayed by the PMB/PYO volunteers in their support towards the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari and telling the volunteers that they had contributed immensely to in ensuring that Nigeria remains in the course for greatness.
The vice president expressed hope that the country will continue in its path to greatness through the support the government is enjoying from the public. The stated through the grace of God every project embarked upon by the president will be completed.
Prof. Yemi Osinbajo stated that the Nigerian economy will turn around for good and the Nigeria will remain a prosperous great nation.
He reminded the PMB/PYO volunteers that elections are not over yet that they should work hard to deliver the remaining six states on March 23. He stated that there is need to put in more efforts in those six states that the APC cannot afford to slack up and say the job is done.
The vice president also conveyed the APC’s condolences to the families by asking for a minute silence to honour those who lost their lives during the general elections.
He reflected on how the campaigns went by saying that it was all about the Nigerian people whom he described as trusting and supportive of their leaders without asking for too much.
He also reviewed the performance of the past four years by saying that the Buhari-led government had achieved much in four years in spite of earning less. He attributed the progress recorded to the honesty and integrity displayed by President Muhammadu Buhari.
The Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, Ade Ipaye, also added his voice to commend the Nigerian people in demonstrating their confidence in President Muhammadu Buhari and Prof. Yemi Osinbajo in directing the affairs of the nation. He stated that Nigerian did not just vote but stayed behind to ensure that their votes were counted.
Mr. Ade Ipaye commended the President and vice president over their energetic campaign which they took to every state in the country and thank God for safety of the entire campaign team throughout the period they moved round the country to solicit for the people’s supports.
The Director, Women and Youths, APC Campaign Team, Buba Marwa lauded the initiative of the vice president for providing the platform to express appreciation for the hard work carried out by the PMB/PYO volunteers. He also thanked God for protection of the vice president and the crew member in the helicopter crash during the campaigns. He applauded the uncommon courage and commitment by Prof. Yemi Osinbajo to proceed with the campaigns immediately after the helicopter crash. He stated that he was very confident of victory in the elections after the vice president survived the helicopter unhurt.
He said that he has always wondered why God would spare the life of the vice president in an helicopter crash if God had not prepared him for another four years.
