BACKGROUND
About
Girl Effect Rwanda (GER)
Girl
Effect Rwanda’s mission is to enable all of Rwanda’s one million adolescent
girls (aged 10-19) to fulfil their potential. We work across four areas:
partnering with leaders to deliver for girls; developing innovations in girl
programming; working through our brand platform Ni Nyampinga to inspire and
enable girls; and generating girl-led insights and evidence. Our work aims to
encourage investments that will benefit Rwandan girls – in systems, culture,
government and industry. These investments will realise Rwanda’s Vision 2020.
About
our branded media platform, Ni Nyampinga
Ni
Nyampinga (the beautiful girl inside and out, who makes good decisions) is
Rwanda’s first youth brand, aimed at inspiring and enabling Rwandan girls. The
brand embraces the values and richness of Rwandese culture and the content is
designed to inspire self-belief as well as provide practical and enabling
information that can be used every day in girl’s lives.
Launched
by Girl Effect Rwanda in 2011, Ni Nyampinga currently consists of a quarterly
magazine and weekly radio show that is by girls for girls and reaches a
national audience. Today, over half of all girls in Rwanda have read our
quarterly magazine or listened to the weekly radio shows and over 40% of their
parents and brothers join them.
