Responsibilities

As a member of the Donor Funds
Management team, the Financial Officer is accountable for processing,
controlling and reporting financial activities within the department. The
incumbent will support stewardship activities by preparing recipient reports
and assisting in the preparation and distribution of donor reporting
packages.  The Donor Funds Management team shares accountability for
over $500 million in approximately 2000 named endowment funds, and $40
million in 700 expendable funds. Approximately 75% of the funds support
student aid.  The incumbent will assist in the development of systems
and process improvements for both endowment management, as well as other
aspects of the department.

Qualifications

Education:
–   University degree; in Business
Administration preferred

–   Enrollment in CGA/CMA (CPA) program

Experience:
–   Three years’ financial experience
–   Experience in a University setting
preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
–   Knowledge of Generally Accepted
Accounting Principals (GAAP)

–   Knowledge of federal and provincial
legislation affecting charities and investment principles

–   Excellent communication skills with a
demonstrated ability to complete detailed analytics and reports

–   A thorough understanding of
financial/accounting systems and reporting procedures

–   Ability to interpret information to
prepare meaningful constituency communications

–   Advanced computer skills including
spreadsheet design, word processing and database management

–   Financial acumen with an ability to
process information with high levels of accuracy

–   Excellent verbal and written
communication skills and confidence dealing with all levels of an
organization

–   Ability to establish and build
healthy working relations and partnerships with clients, peers and external
stakeholders

–   Ability to work well under pressure
and use good judgment in assessing difficult situations

–   Ability to work in a fluid and
challenging work environment with changing deadlines

–   Possesses a reputation for
resourcefulness with a strong sense of accountability and initiative

–   Ability to work independently and
effectively as a member of the team to achieve department goals
