Capital Rwanda is looking for an Accountant
based in Kigali to support the management of its Kenya accounts and
finances.
BBOXX
is an international company based in London leading the solar revolution across
the developing world.  Currently operating in 14 different countries BBOXX
has already electrified 200,000 people.  We are aiming to make that number
20 million by the year 2020.  Unlike other off-grid solar p

roviders, BBOXX
controls the whole process from design to manufacture to distribution and
financing.

Now
we need an Accountant to ensure our
innovative plug & play solar systems
continue to meet the
energy needs and desires of the Kenyan people.
Person specification 
Essential
  • Honest, reliable and trustworthy
    character (with referees to support)
  • At least two years of
    experience as an accountant 
  • Must be very well versed with the
    Kenyan law.
  • Good knowledge of double-entry
    bookkeeping 
  • Comfortable with one of the
    following accounting software packages (Sage, Quickbooks, ERP, Sun,
    SAP or equivalent ) 
  • Keen to learn attitude
  • Previous work in a financial role in
    a fast-moving office environment
  • Good attention to detail
  • Impeccable time management
  • Efficient and responsive work ethic
  • Clean and tidy
  • Fluent in spoken and written English
  • Able to work independently with
    minimal supervision
  • Competent with Microsoft Office
    (Excel and Word esp.)
  • A nice big BBOXX smile
Desirable
  • A certified public
    accountant: (CPA), ACCA, ACA or a studier or holder
    of an equivalent qualification
  • A Bachelors, Masters or
    postgraduate degree in accounting or accountancy
  • Formal training in IT, reporting and
    business administration
  • Good people management
  • Good knowledge of Swahili and
    other local languages a plus
  • A team player
  • Experience in solar, energy or
    renewables
  • Time spent in a retail oriented
    environment
  • Experience with an international
    organization or business
Job Description
Responsibilities:
  • Update the online ERP system with
    sales and expenses of the entire country business
  • Take ownership of the preparation of
    bank and cash reconciliations on a monthly basis
  • Ensure the timely and accurate
    preparation of payroll, NSSF and NHIF for all employees by the outsourcing
    company
  • Support in the preparation of routine
    Pay As You Earn matters and year end completion of Pay As You Earn returns
  • Ensure the timely and accurate filing
    of corporation tax and VAT returns
  • Ensure all petty cash accounts are
    reconciled and cash is well accounted for at any time
  • Take ownership of monthly reporting
    to the Financial controller based in East Africa
  • Support in the training of all Hub
    managers/keepers on basic accounting knowledge
  • Recommend in house accounting manuals
    and process flows to be followed at HQ and all Hubs.
  • Take over the management of all BBOXX
    KENYA accounts
  • Carry out routine Hub Accounting
    Audits with recommendation from the financial controller

Tasks:
  • Maintain electronic records of
    receipts and payments through bank and cash accounts (cash receipt reports
    and deposit slips)
  • Maintain suitable systems for filing
    all invoices and bank statements and other items relating to the
    accounting systems
  • Compile and maintain sales invoices
    and ETR reports from all hubs
  • Maintain an accurate and detailed
    register of company assets (description, date of acquisition and original
    cost)
  • Maintain original/copies of
    purchase/lease contracts and other documents necessary for correct account
    reporting
  • Support in the preparation of reports
    in support of returns or claims, e.g. insurance company certificates,
    government department claims, etc.
  • Support in ensuring that all stock
    taken to and from different warehouses is invoiced and transferred real
    time.
  • Account for the payroll processed and
    paid by outsourcing company.
  • Undertake a weekly audit of petty
    cash on the ground and ensure its accuracy at any one time.
  • Support in the drawing up of the
    office budget at the beginning of every month and submit for approval.
  • Sorting and distributing expenses as
    per the ERP system
  • Ensure to run a pro-active electronic
    filing system of all statutory accounts (NSSF, VAT, PAYE, Year-end
    accounts).
Compensation:
Accountants
are paid a competitive salary based on their experience and qualifications.
