Position
Overview:
The Food
Security and Livelihoods Technical Advisor is responsible for supporting the
improvement of IMB Food Security services by identifying and adapting
innovative best practices from around the world related to food security and
income-generating opportunities in underserved rural areas. Partners In
Health’s Program on Social and Economic Rights has historically offered
separate program activities in the areas of agriculture training and
microfinance. The Food Security and Livelihoods Technical Advisor will provide
expertise to guide the integration and improvement of these activities. The
Food Security and Livelihoods Technical Advisor will report directly to the
Chief Operating Officer and will work closely with the Food Security Program
Manager to meet the objectives of the program.
Specific
Responsibilities:
  • Identify and adapt best practices related to
    food security and income-generating activities in rural underserved communities
  • Identify and develop strategic partnerships
    both locally and regionally that support the improvement of food security
    service delivery.
  • Develop operational research opportunities to
    measure the impact and cost-effectiveness of food security services
  • Assist the Program Manager with evaluating
    data and reporting streams, in collaboration with IMB monitoring and
    evaluation staff.
  • Contribute to internal and external reports
    for IMB leadership and donors at the direction of the COO.
  • Provide technical support to staff and promote
    learning based on objectives and activities of projects being implemented
    and ensure documentation and sharing of learning with other programs.
  • Provides technical guidance and feedback on
    the daily performance of coordinators and assistants who support the
    implementation of agriculture training and microfinance activities,
    including IMB’s agriculture assistance workers (AAWs)
Qualifications
required
  • Masters level degree in international affairs
    or development, rural development, or economics.
  • At least three years of experience working in
    an international development setting.
  • Demonstrated skill using Microsoft Office
    software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and the Internet
  • Fluency in English is required. Professional
    proficiency in French is highly desired.
  • Ability to live, work, and frequently travel
    in the rural areas served by IMB.
  • Energy and stamina to withstand long working
    hours and often stressful conditions.
