International PhD Fellowships at Zoological Station Anton Dohrn of Naples in Italy

Zoological Station Anton Dohrn of Naples is
offering four PhD fellowships to carry out interdisciplinary training
in Biological Sciences. The Zoological Station will cover the registration fee
for three years. Applicants must have sufficient command of the English
language in order to prepare and defend a thesis in English. Spoken English
ability will be assessed during the entrance interview. The closing date
for applications is August 31st 2013.
Study Subject(s):
Fellowships are awarded in the field of Biological Sciences for the following
projects: Gut patterning in evolution and disease, a combined RNASeq/ChIPSeq
approach, Functional and molecular diversity of diatom species and
phytoplankton associations, Diversity, Distribution and Evolution of the
Planktonic Diatom Family Chaetocerotaceae and Interaction in top down and
bottom up factors in Cystoseira populations in the Gulf of Naples.

Eligibility:
-Applicants should hold an advanced degree such as a Master of Science (M.Sc.)
or its equivalent in a scientific area before the start of the internship.
-Applicants must have sufficient command of the English language in order to
prepare and defend a thesis in English. Spoken English ability will be assessed
during the entrance interview.

Scholarship Description: 4 Ph.D. fellowships are available to carry out interdisciplinary
training in Biological Sciences at the Zoological Station Anton Dohrn of Naples
Italy. Applications are invited from suitably qualified postgraduate candidates.
Number of award(s): 4 PhD fellowships are available.
Duration of award(s): Fellowships are awarded for three years.
What does it cover? The gross salary is € 16.000,00 per year for three years from
which taxes (approximately 18%) will be subtracted. The Zoological Station will
cover the registration fee for three years.
Notification: Applications
will be evaluated by the Zoological Station PhD Committee and shortlisted for
interviews within one month time.
