Community Food Educator/ Good Food Box Coordinator Job Vacancy in Sudbury, Ontario

Hours/Wage: 21 hours a week at $16.79hr
Start/End Dates: May 9th until September 30th (with a possible extension pending future funding)

The Good Food Box is a fresh fruit and vegetable distribution system operated by the Good Food Box Committee. It runs like a large buying club, with centralized purchasing and co-ordination. Individuals place orders for boxes with volunteer drop-off coordinators in their neighborhood. Food Box customers purchase top-quality fruit and vegetable and volunteers pack the boxes. Each box contains the same mixture of produce, though the contents change with each delivery, depending on what is in season and reasonably-priced at the time.

Job Description:
The Community Food Educator/Good Food Box Coordinator will be responsible for the ordering, organizing, accounting and distribution of Good Food Boxes once a month. Under the guidance and with support from the Sudbury Good Food Box Committee the Coordinator is responsible for volunteer management; produce ordering; maintaining a produce database; customer service; promotion of the Good Food Box to the community of Greater Sudbury; developing and producing a monthly newsletter, updating facebook pages and websites as well as hosting Food Skills workshop(s).

Education:
Bachelor’s Degree or College Diploma in a related field (ie: Health Sciences, Social Work, Resource Management etc).

Skills:
• Basic accounting and Microsoft Excel
• Experience in project management
• Previous experience in relationship building and volunteer development
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, multi-tasking, and communication skills
• Food skills, cooking and nutrition knowledge
• Comfortable researching, creating and giving educational cooking seminars
• Good understanding of social media (ie: Facebook, online website software)
• Previous experience with volunteer management an asset
• Be able to lift 20lbs
• Work well with a flexible schedule, some weeks working more, others working less

Assets:
• Fluency in French
• Familiarity with use and implementation of social media (ie: Facebook, wix.com or blogspot.com, twitter etc).
• Previous experience ordering perishable goods
• Food Handler Safety Training
• First Aid Training
