Ph.d fellow in On-Line Detection of Undesired Meta-Bolites in Slaughter Carcasses at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark

Department of Food Science, Faculty of Life Sciences at University of Copenhagen is offering a PhD scholarship commencing 1st April 2012 or soon thereafter.
Project description

The aim of this project is to investigate the potential of using various spectroscopic techniques for on-line detection of boar taint in slaughter carcasses. A complementary set of spatially resolved spectra from various spectroscopic sources in combination with multivariate data analysis will be used to device a measurement method that will be able to determine the potential of a carcass to developing the undesired boar-taint smell when the meat is further processed. The project is collaboration between the Department of Food Science and Carometec A/S with financial aid from the Danish Advanced Technology Foundation. Chemometrics and spatially resolved spectroscopy are key technologies for success in this project. The Quality & Technology group at KU-LIFE are experts in chemometrics and biospectroscopy (http://www.models.life.ku.dk/) and Carometec A/S is a world leading manufacturer of measurement equipment for the meat industry (http://www.carometec.com).
