POSITION: MARKET AND ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT OFFICER
The incumbent will provide technical advisory services at farm production and processing stage for market conformity to established quality standards such as organic and fair-trade standards and UNBS requirements. The officer will advice on best farm practices raging from agronomy, inputs, and modem technology in the agro production and processing sector and establish linkages between cooperatives and markets and other value chains players.

Roles of the Market and Enterprise Development Officer
1. Assist the cooperatives in identifying business partners and
linking them up to relevant private organizations and individuals
and especially service providers.- ,
2. Identify new profitable income generating activities within the target project areas using available resources.
3. Facilitate formulation of business partnerships between cooperatives, local financial institutions and private entrepreneurs.
4. Develop strategy for productivity enhancement and growth of marketing cooperatives.
5. Identity the potential entrepreneurs and private business groups in a way of marketing clients agro produce.
6. Monitor and report on the effectiveness of business linkages created between cooperatives and the business community and service providers.
7. Prepare and present timely and quality work plans, schedules, budgets and reports in accordance with established criteria,

Job requirement
Required Qualifications
• A bachelors’ degree
• At least 2 years of working experience in NGOs/Companies in agro processing and marketing
• At least 2 years of community/rural development work
• Knowledge of standards for processing (e.g. UNBS) and marketing (e.g. organic and fair-trade)
• Knowledge of computer office packages
• Knowledge of various agricultural on farm production techniques
• Knowledge of agricultural processing technology and packaging

Positions available: One
Nature of employment: Volunteer (up to December 2011), the position can be improved basing on individual performance and availability of funds

Salary: Not applicable (but there is a basic pay to cater for living costs)
Duty station: Fort Portal with minimum travel to the field
