Twitter calls Trump’s tweet threatening protesters “violation of abusive behavior rule”

Twitter has labelled another Donald Trump tweet for violating rules about “Abusive Behavior” following his threat of ‘serious force’ against protesters.

The US president tweeted on Tuesday that “there will never be a ‘Autonomous Zone’ in Washington, D.C. for as long as I am your president. If they try they ‘re going to be met with serious force!

He reacted to protests in Lafayette Square Park near the White House on Monday evening, where park police stopped demonstrators from pulling down a statue of former president Andrew Jackson.

In a statement addressing the tweet, Twitter’s security team wrote: “We’ve placed a public interest notice on this Tweet for violating our policy against abusive behavior, specifically, the presence of a threat of harm against an identifiable group.”

The tweet remains on the website “given its relevance to ongoing public conversation.” Users can retweet it with comment, but they won’t be able to “like” it, and “reply it.

On May 26, Twitter first placed a label on Trump’s tweets when it determined that two of his mail-in posts required fact-checking links, prompting the U.S. president to accuse the social media platform of interfering in elections.
