US singer, Huey, is gone. The St. Louis trendy pop artist, best known for his classic “Pop Lock & Drop It” single, was shot and killed Thursday evening. He was aged 31.
The incident occurred shortly before 11:00 p.m. On the 8100 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard near Mable Avenue in his hometown of Kinloch, in front of a house.
Huey, whose real name is Lawrence Franks, arrived at a local hospital sustaining a gunshot wound according to police. Soon after his arrival he was pronounced dead.
Police have said another victim from the shooting scene came with a gunshot wound to the Ferguson Police Department. He was taken to a hospital in the city, and treated for his wounds. The hope is that he will survive.
Huey who leaves behind a daughter of 13 years has been signed to Jive Records. His debut album Notebook Paper was released in 2007.
