Nicki Minaj, the American superstar, says she has “decided to retire and have a family”.
On Thursday, the rapper made the announcement through her @nickiminaj Twitter page.
She said, “I’ve decided to retire & have my family. I know you guys are happy now. To my fans, keep reppin me, do it til da death of me, [X] in the box- cuz ain’t nobody checkin me.
“Love you for LIFE,” the post reads, closing with emojis.”
The Grammy-nominated rapper dates from a person named Kenneth Petty and has suggested they plan to marry.
Apart from music, in several Hollywood movies, the 36-year-old has appeared and has her own radio show.
It was not evident whether the post was real, a plea for attention, or an act of spite towards naysayers, as the second phrase indicates.
She said she and boyfriend Kenneth Petty will be married on her Queen Radio show in August “in 80 days.”
Nicki Minaj joined Drake on Lil Wayne’s record label Young Money Entertainment after releasing a series of mixtapes in the 2000s.
Her debut album Pink Friday was published in 2010 and since then has published mega-hits like ‘Super Bass’, ‘Anaconda’ and ‘Starships’, that made her one of the biggest woman rappers in the world.
Her solo albums and collaborations with Ludacris, Usher, David Guetta, Madonna, Ariana Grande, Kanye West and Justin Bieber have sold millions of dollars.
She was nominated for ten Grammys, was awarded five MTV Video Music Awards, and a solo woman artist broke the record for the most Billboard Hot 100 entries.
Far from music, her appearances in the film include ‘The Other Woman’ and ‘Ice Age: Continental Drift’.
