In the neon-lit metropolis of the Night City, the vibrant landscape goes beyond striking graphics and sensory experiences. The journey is elevated with a dedicated soundtrack, giving a sense of immersion like never before!
Composed by Marcin and Paul, the music in the game gives a sense of mystery and tension. The audio and video are synchronized in such a way that graphical textures blend into the electronic beats and music vocals. There is a certain futuristic quality in the soundtrack that makes people listen to an alternative reality.
As we explore the musical odyssey of the Night City, let’s have a look at the latest updates in the game through Cyberpunk 2077 patch notes!
Cyberpunk music initially emerged in the 1980s, inspired by sci-fi culture and fictional themes. Mostly, it is a combination of electronic music, synthwave, and ambient sounds, creating a unique listening experience.
The genre also represents the dystopian future predicted in the game, where the rise of technology and megacorps has formed a gritty society. The most commonly found elements in the game soundtrack are listed below.
- Heavy use of electronic instruments
- Fiction themes
- Dark atmospheres
- Unconventional music structure
- Experimental sound design
- Notable composers and albums
Behind the scenes of Cyberpunk 2077 music
The real heroes in the musical odyssey of the Night City are the brilliant composers and talented musicians who have developed an amazing record for capturing the attention of the players. Adamczyk, the guru of blending electronic elements in music, recently collaborated with punk rock to create a playlist that extends beyond traditional musical boundaries.
PROJEKT RED has also launched a BTS video showing the formation and development of iconic cyberpunk music. The video includes inputs from multiple renown artists like A$AP Rocky, Gazelle Twin, Richard Devine, Nina Kraviz, and Deadly Hunta. The combination of these artists is enough to give the player an insight into what’s coming!
Cyberpunk 2077 patch notes included the closing songs “Let You Down” and “Phantom Liberty,” composed by multi-platinum signer David Podsiadlo. On YouTube, “Phantom Liberty” alone has more than 2.8 million views, while “Let You Down” crossed a whopping 30 million views. The 4-minute song introduced a new character, “Sasha,” and explained her story to the viewers.
Fun fact: There is a new gig named “Waiting for Dodger” in the Night City where you can help Sasha save her husband.
It is evident that the game pays huge attention and dedication to its soundtrack. From collaborating with big artists to syncing the lyrics with stories of game characters to making the gamers feel the emotions of otherwise-nameless characters, these are the traits that make the Cyberpunk 2077 sound system stand out in the gaming industry!
Cyberpunk 2077 Patch Notes
New vehicles, increased visibility, a better soundtrack, and what not?
Patch notes are the documents provided by software developers when any new update or version is launched in a software, application, or video game. Cyberpunk 2.1 was released on December 5, 2023, and some of the highlights of this update are listed below.
New Features
We know that updates come with bug fixes and enhancements, but what makes version 2.1 so popular is its plethora of new features. For instance;
- The NCART issue, which has been long discussed by cyberpunk players, is finally fixed. Now you can ride across all 19 metro stations with no extra hassle. There are 5 different lines, so you can go via fast travel or ride the train itself while looking out of the window.
- They can now also invite their romantic partner to spend time together in any of the apartments. Once you complete the romance path with a character, hanging out becomes an “unlimited and repeatable event.”.
- Listen to the radio while walking or riding via the NCART train. The latest Radioport feature is available to be explored, seamlessly switching to car radio whenever you get into a vehicle. The quest-specific music automatically shifts according to the scenario.
- You can also adjust the volume of the music directly through the radio window.
Improved Accessibility
The update 2.1 makes it easier than ever for gamers to access different functions within the gameplay. The font size of the interface text is bigger. There is also reduced styling for a better appearance. The timer can be disabled in the hacking protocol.
Simply go to the new “Accessibility tab” and change the difficulty or subtitle settings according to your preferences. You can also modify the controls and interface options in the tab. The “Weapon Cycling to Arm Cyberware” setting is added, which lets you enable or disable the cycling arm. The UI panel’s up/down and left/right settings can be adapted to AZERTY and QWERTZ keyboards.
Much more than just music!
Cyberpunk 2077 is not the only game that comes with a blasting soundtrack, but it surely is one of the best. Other examples, like GTA, Saints Row, and Need for Speed, also had amazing soundtracks, enabling gamers to listen to fantastic music while riding across the city. This contributes to the longevity of a game. Surely, only music cannot hold a game for longer, but it surely does some heavy lifting.
Being an ex-GTA lover, I still cannot listen to “Welcome to the Jungle” without remembering my used-to-be favorite game. This is exactly the charm that Cyberpunk 2077 is casting on the players. The songs make people emotionally attached to characters, game scenarios, and the Night City, making them want to play for longer!
Not only this, the music changes according to the actions and backdrop of the player, giving a sense of tension and immersion. Initially, the game was launched with two separate volumes and one extended play volume. Now, there are four different volumes for in-game radio. Both Vol 1 and Vol 2 come pre-installed in the game, while others can be purchased from DRM-free stores.
As a die-hard music and gaming lover, I got really excited to see the Cyberpunk 2077 patch notes with amazing changes to the sound system. Comment down your favourite track from the game, and let’s keep the conversation going!
