Bonn, West Germany’s former capital, was selected to host Rwanda Day 2019 for its strategic place. The town does not have a large Rwandan Diaspora community, but it is situated in Nordrhein-Wesfalen, a German province bordering Belgium and the Netherlands, both home to some of Europe’s largest Rwandan Diaspora groups.
The recent Rwanda Day took place in Brussels Belgium in 2017, it is a meeting that brings together all Rwandans residing in the diaspora, their compatriots from home and friends from Rwanda.
Over the years, Rwanda Day has evolved into one of Diaspora Rwandans ‘ largest domestic events, offering them a platform to raise problems before President Kagame and other leaders who provide responses.
