The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) closed its case on Thursday at the tribunal sitting in Minna, Niger State for the governorship election petition.
Tanko Beji was introduced as his only witness at the resumed hearing on Thursday by PDP lawyer Mohammed Ndayako.
Mr Ndayako took on oath his four witness statements and requested the court to use them in the petition as proof.
He also tendered some documents that the witness listed in his oath declaration, after which he notified the court that the case was being closed by his client.
Counsel to the first respondent Jibrin Okutepa (SAN) said he was going to bring his client, Governor Abubakar Bello, to open their defense on Friday.
The tribunal’s chairman, Justice John Igboji, adjourned the case until June 28 for the participants to open their case.
Umar Nasko, the PDP candidate in the state’s March governorship election, sued Mr Bello and his deputy Ahmed Ketso, the APC candidate, before the court.
Mr Nasko claimed the duo had presented INEC with forged educational and birth certificates.
