Osinbajo arrives U.S. for meeting with Pence, others

On a four-day trip to the United States, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo arrived in New York.

At 12.38 a.m.(5:38 a.m. Nigerian time), Mr Osinbajo and his entourage arrived at John F. Kennedy International Airport’s Sheltair wing. The Nigerian Ambassador to the United States, Sylvanus Nsofor received the Mr. Osinbajo in the US.

Other Nigerian mission officials with Mr Nsofor included the Permanent Representative of Nigeria to the UN, Tijani Mohammad-Bande ; and Mr Ben Okoyen, Consul General of Nigeria in New York.

According to presidential spokesperson Laolu Akande, the vice president is planned to meet his U.S. counterpart, Mike Pence, in Washington on Wednesday.

In a declaration on Saturday, Mr Akande said both rulers would discuss issues of mutual interest between Nigeria and the United States.

Mr Osinbajo would be the guest speaker before his meeting with Mr Pence at a marked forum “A Conversation With Vice President Yemi Osinbajo: Nigeria’s Economic Prospects”.

The event would be organized by the  Council Foreign Relations (CFR), an autonomous, non-partisan think tank set up to assist Americans know the environment better.

The vice president is anticipated to talk about Nigeria’s financial recovery, possibilities for investment and development, and the recent general elections.
