Laboratory Manager Job Vacancy in Canada at Peterborough Regional Health Centre

The Peterborough Regional Health Centre is currently recruiting for a Full Time Manager, Laboratory. The Manager, Laboratory is responsible to the Director, ED, DI & Laboratory Medicine. He/she provides direction and support for the day to day systems operations and support activities within and outside the Laboratory Medicine Department. He/she facilitates the on-going development of department staff and is responsible for meeting the planning objectives of Laboratory Medicine. A key role is the ability to interpret mandated Ontario Laboratory Accreditation (OLA) requirements and other regulations, apply them in the Laboratory setting and ensure that they are met by all laboratory staff. He/she completes management reviews and audits and communicates the results as per the OLA Standards.

QUALIFICATIONS:
* Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in healthcare or other related discipline required.
* Certification in Medical Laboratory Technology from a recognized post secondary institute
* Advanced Registered Technologist certification (ART) an asset
* Active CMLTO Registration required
* Quality Manager/Auditor or Management System Certification by a recognized institute preferred.
* Previous systems experience with specific laboratory applications such as automation, Voice Recognition Dictation &/or clinical information systems for Laboratory Medicine : implementation experience with these applications would be an asset
* Clinical experience in Laboratory Medicine and strong understanding of laboratory workflow preferred.
* Working knowledge of interfacing/technology standards and functionality.
* Working knowledge of networking, interfacing, internetworking, communications and video technologies and their application in laboratory systems
* Working knowledge of the Meditech LIS and MIS workload management systems is an asset
* Three to five years related clinical and/or management experience is preferred.
* Completion of CHA management courses or equivalent would be an asset
* Demonstrated knowledge of Ontario Laboratory Accreditation program required
* Computer skills and knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet programs.
* Membership and participation in a relevant professional organization.
