The House of Representatives Committee responsible for the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has summoned Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio, and Acting Managing Director of the Agency, Daniel Pondei.
The decision was taken by the legislators on Friday at the continuation of their investigation into the alleged financial misconduct of the Commission.
The summoned persons must appear unfailingly on Monday, according to the Committee.
Mr. Pondei had taking a walk on the committee on Thursday.
Mr Pondei, who appeared with the other management of the Commission, accused the chairman of the House Committee of the NDDC, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, of corruption. He said that his team would not talk to the committee because of that.
The Committee ordered the summons to be delivered by the media or by other alternative means.
Similarly, Joy Nunieh, former acting managing director of the agency, appeared before the committee.
She appeared and submitted her submission to the committee through a teleconference platform, zoom.
Ms. Nunieh, who was scheduled to appear before the committee on Thursday, was prevented from attending the hearing by security agents who had laid siege to her residence in Port Harcourt.
