In Oyo State, the son of the immediate outgoing health minister, Isaac Adewole, was kidnapped.
Reports have it that Dayo Adewole was kidnapped on his farm by some unidentified gunmen on Tuesday.
The kidnap was verified by an official at the police commissioner’s Oyo office. The kidnap was also verified by an assistant to the ex-minister.
According to reports soldiers, police officers and other security agents and local hunters are already on the trail of the kidnappers.
It was revealed that the ex-minister was compelled to cut off his journey overseas.
The abductors have not contact the family on their motive and their victim’s condition.
A source informed the reporter that at about 6 p.m. on his farm in Iroko, near Fiditi in Afijio Local Government Area of Oyo State, the younger Adewole was held at gunpoint.
Although he was accompanied by some employees, abductors came as a prime target for him.
It was found that Dayo was later taken away by the kidnappers to an unknown location.
A source supposedly said, “The employees that survived the ordeal alerted the villagers. Iroko’s Oniroko mobilized local hunters.
“It was said that the hunters found the abductors ‘ vehicle along the highway to Iware village near Iroko.
“But the whereabouts of Dayo is still yet to be located. It was assumed that after Oniroko raised the alarm on air, the kidnappers might have changed their car after constant radio announcement.”
Despite public assurances, abductions in South-West Nigeria and across the nation have risen in latest months.
