The Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku has honoured the Executive Director, Finance and Administration of the Delta State Oil Producing Area Development Commission(DESOPADEC), Chief John Nani with an Award Of Excellence for his numerous contribution to the community and human development of Delta state and beyond.
Presenting the award on behalf of the Rector of the school, Prof. (Mrs) Stella Chiemeka, the Deputy Rector, Dr John Otaberuo said that the DSPG Honorary award of excellence is the highest academic honorary award of the Delta State Polytechnic and that it is in consonance with the mandate of the institution as stated in its establishing laws.
“This award is in recognition of your sterling performances, distinct leadership qualities and your meritorious services to better the lots of humanity, and for your numerous contributions to the development of the state which the polytechnic community clearly identifies with” He added.
Speaking further, The Deputy Rector stated that the choice of Chief Nani was predicated on his performances and commitments to raise the bar of governance in the state. He noted that the institution’s award committee painstakingly did a due diligence on Hon. Nani’s achievements in all the positions he has held and found him outstandingly worthy of this Award which would have been presented at the 2nd combined convocation ceremony of the polytechnic held on the 11th of October, 2019.
Receiving the award, Chief Nani expressed thanks and gratitude to the management of the polytechnic for finding him worthy of this prestigious award saying that the award will spur him further to continue making his humane contributions towards providing quality life for Deltans and particularly the oil bearing communities.
According to him, “I am very happy and I know that my colleagues here are also happy for this honour done to me. When you get back, please extend my sincere appreciation to the Rector.”
He dedicated the Award to God Almighty and His Excellency, Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa for providing him with the pedestal to impact humanity.
Present at the brief ceremony were the Unuevworo of Idjerhe Kingdom , Chief Dr. Solomon Ojairefe Odemro; DESOPADEC Executive Director, Planing, Research and Statistics, Amb. Shedrack Agediga ; Executive Director, Social Services, Barr. Leonard Anoka, and the Executive Director, Projects, Barr. Daniel Mayuku . Others were the Director of Administration and Supplies, Pastor Ferdinand Ebibor; Director of Finance, Mr Louis Ajei and the PS_EDFA, Comr. Sagboje Ediri Milton.
In the company of the Deputy Rector were, Mrs Pat Susan Omoware, Engr. Alfred Oyibo and Mrs Ufuoma Irewi.
