President Muhammadu Buhari sent greetings to Nigerians in general and to Muslims in particular as the month-long fast Ramadan begins.
In a statement in Abuja on Sunday, Mr Buhari’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, said the president’s greetings followed the sighting of Ramadan’s lunar month.
Mr. Buhari called for the country’s continued peace, progress and prosperity.
Islam is a religion of peace that upholds the values of tolerance and mutual coexistence, without a place for hatred and violence, according to the president.
Therefore, he urged Muslims to use the time to build a friendship and harmony relationship with fellow citizens of other faiths.
The president prayed to Allah for the country’s continuing peace, progress, and well-being.
