President Muhammadu Buhari said he commiserates with the South African government and people over the loss of lives caused by torrential downpours and mudslides.
Mr Buhari said that he was “deeply touched by the unfortunate incident.”
“I am saddened by the natural disaster’s loss of life and destruction. Such disasters destroy all the people worked for within hours, forcing many to start from scratch. This is especially difficult for developing countries fighting poverty, “he said, according to a statement made by his spokesman, Garba Shehu.
Mr Shehu said that the President extended deep sympathy to families affected by the disaster, praying for the consolation and reinforcement of God in their time of need.
“The people of South Africa are our prayers and sympathy as they fight to overcome the devastating effect of this flood,” said the President.
