Biodun Fatoyinbo of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA), an embattled Nigerian preacher, has delivered his first Sunday sermon since the outbreak of Friday’s supposed rape of a congregant.
Mr Fatoyinbo took about 10:25 a.m. on the microphones. At the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly in Abuja, telling church members only that he had been talking about the scandal with some high-ranking people.
He also announced the postponement of ‘ Seven Days of Glory, ‘ an annual meeting known to attract high-ranking United States Pentecostal preachers to Abuja.
“We don’t want to put our guest speakers go through security checks,” Mr Fatoyinbo told today’s congregants.
However, his wife defended her husband, stating that even as an unbeliever he would not rape. The remarks made by Mrs Fatoyinbo echoed what her husband said in Saturday’s denial of the rape.
Busola Dakolo, whose family had been attending the church for centuries, accused Mr Fatoyinbo of rape.
Protesters were seated outside the church demanding Mr Fatoyinbo’s instant resignation and another call for accountability among Christian officials in Nigeria.
