APC Crisis: More drama as Giadom insists he remains interim National Chairman

Victor Giadom dismissed his suspension from the All Progressive Congress (APC) and the inauguration of Worgu Boms as the party’s new deputy deputy national secretary as “laughable,” saying he remains the interim national chairman of the party.

Speaking with journalists at the national secretariat of the party shortly after a protest by some on Monday, Mr Giadom said Mr Bom ‘s inauguration violated the constitution of the party.

“That is laughable. I’m sure you know that I was elected at the convention, and as I have told Nigerians, that level of impunity and rascality must be corrected.

“You cannot smuggle someone into the National Working Committee without an election. Anybody who wants to be a member of the National Working Committee should present his or herself for a democratic election. You cannot just bring somebody from anywhere to fill any office in the National Working Committee,” he said.

Mr Giadom took center stage in the party’s NWC drama when, on Wednesday, he proclaimed himself the acting national chairman after the Court of Appeal disqualified Adams Oshiomhole.

Mr Giadom said his assertion was based on an Abuja High Court judgment in March.

Lanre Issa-Onilu, spokesman for the party, had declared on Tuesday the appointment of deputy national chairman (South), Abiola Ajimobi, as the party’s interim chairman after Mr Oshiomhole ‘s suspension.

On Monday, Mr Giadom called for a meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) as the panacea to the party’s ravaging crisis.

“There is no other way to solve the crisis than to call a NEC meeting. That has been my decision,” he said.
