The Ministry of Health would like to recruit competent staff in the following
position:

Recruitment of a PhD candidate

a. Responsibilities
Responsible for leading Project research activities for the partnership in
Rwanda, including: securing ethical clearance for study activities, data
collection and transcription of the case studies and action research.

Contribute to analysis and write-up of findings of research done in Rwanda

Additional roles.
Assist in locating documents on maternal health in Rwanda for the project. Some
contribution to the systematic review, such as being part of the team that
screens articles for eligibility for the review and extracts data from
articles.

Qualification of the PhD student
The PhD candidate must be a Government servant working in the health sector,
and have the following qualifications:
• A master´s degree or finalising a mater degree (MPH / MSc / MA / MPhil) in
public health, health sciences, social sciences, economics or other relevant
discipline;
• Minimum 2 years working in the field of maternal health.
• Excellent qualitative research and analytical skills, supported by evidence
from past professional work;
• Good quantitative skills, with demonstrated ability to work in excel;
• Excellent writing skills, and ability to provide evidence of this (reports,
journal articles);
• Excellent communication skills;
• Good command of English (spoken and written), French and Kinyarwanda;
• Good understanding of project management;
• Willingness and ability to travel upcountry for field work;
• Willingness and ability to spend time in the Netherlands at certain
intervals, and to travel to South Africa (occasionally).
