Trading Solana from a chat window sounds like a shortcut. It is closer to a full trading interface that happens to live inside Telegram, and the setup takes about ten minutes.
Here is the whole sequence, including the decisions people skip and regret.
Setting up the wallet
Banana Gun authenticates through Privy using Google, Twitter or Telegram, and the setup is non-custodial.
That last word carries weight. You hold the access, which means nobody can freeze your funds and nobody can restore them for you either.
Do the boring part properly. Whatever recovery method you are given, store it somewhere that survives losing your phone.
Fund it with less than you think
Send a small amount first and confirm it arrives.
This is not caution for its own sake. Verifying the path once, cheaply, eliminates the most common way people lose money before they have made a single trade.
Solana fees are low enough that this test costs almost nothing.
Configure before you trade, not after
Three settings decide most of your outcomes and all of them are easier to set while you have no open position.
Slippage tolerance: keep it tight. On Solana, failed transactions are cheap, so let trades fail rather than authorising the market to fill you at a much worse price.
Position size: pick a fixed amount per trade and hold it constant. This is the setting people abandon first and regret longest.
Exit rules: decide now what takes you out.
Your first buy
You send a contract address. The bot checks it, shows you the token, and you confirm.
Honeypot detection runs by default, simulating the sell before the buy executes and blocking contracts that cannot be sold. Anti-MEV protection is on by default too, with Jito routing on Solana.
Before you confirm, look at two things: liquidity depth relative to the market cap, and how concentrated the holders are. A token where a few connected wallets hold most of the supply is one decision away from a very different chart.
Your first sell, planned in advance
Place this immediately after the buy confirms.
Limit orders let you set the price you want and walk away. A trailing stop loss follows the price up and closes when it reverses, which handles the case where the token runs past anything you planned for.
The reason to do it now is that you currently have no opinion about the position. In twenty minutes, if it is up, you will have several, and every one of them will argue for waiting.
What Solana does differently
Everything happens faster. A full cycle from launch to exhaustion can complete inside an hour.
Tokens frequently launch on a bonding curve and migrate to a real pool later, and the trade changes character at that point. Curve-phase buyers become sellers with a book to sell into.
That speed is why exits set in advance matter more here than on slower chains. There is often no comfortable moment to make the decision manually.
Adding copy trading later
Once the basics are automatic, Copy Trade mirrors wallets you select.
Use the controls. Buy Fixed sets a constant amount per mirrored trade so a wallet cannot pull you into a position larger than you chose. Minimum and maximum market cap filters keep mirrors inside a band you actually want.
Buy Only Once blocks repeat entries on the same token for seven days, which prevents a wallet that keeps averaging into a loser from taking you with it.
One thing to avoid in week one
Do not trade during a launch you heard about from a group chat. Watch one instead and see how the first ten minutes behave before you have money involved.
The cost you should track
Fees on chains other than Ethereum run 1 percent through Banana Gun. Slippage and failed transactions sit on top.
Log your total round trip cost for the first month. Almost nobody does this, and it is the number that decides whether a strategy that looks fine actually is.
Why people abandon the setup
The usual reason is not a bad trade. It is skipping the configuration and then blaming the results.
A trader who never set an exit, ran wide slippage and sized inconsistently will conclude that the bot did not work. Everything that went wrong was upstream of it.
Spend the ten minutes. The settings are the product.
What to expect
Your first few trades will teach you things that no guide transfers, mostly about how fills behave and how fast a position can turn.
Keep them small enough that the lessons are affordable.
Most traders who last did not start well. They started small enough that starting badly did not end the experiment.
That first trade is where the confusion concentrates, and placing a first trade through a Telegram trading bot is documented step by step.Set up the Banana Gun Telegram bot and configure your exits before funding anything
