Context:
Under
the overall administrative supervision of the Chief of Mission (Rwanda),
technical supervision (guidance) of the Regional Migration Health Assessments
Coordinator for Africa and Middle East, and the direct supervision of the Head
of Planning, Monitoring and Follow up Unit/Head of Mobile Teams (Regional
Office in Nairobi) the incumbent will be responsible for Migrant Health
Programme in IOM Rwanda as well as helping to develop and implement
health-related projects.

Programme in IOM Rwanda as well as helping to develop and implement
health-related projects.
Core functions/Responsibilities:
- Perform
migration health assessment and complete related medical documentation of
refugees selected for migration in accordance with the resettlement
country’s Medical Examination Guidelines/Protocols for Immigrants and the
IOM Migration Health Assessment Guidelines. - Assist
in providing technical supervision and monitoring of the IOM nurse to
ensure that the following activities are performed in accordance with the
technical requirements of the resettlement countries:
- Medical
treatment and follow up programs - Pre-embarkation
medical examination of departing refugees.
- Contribute
to the analysis and technical elaboration of data gathered from the
migration health assessment. - Coordinate
with the local/national health authorities, physicians, hospitals and
laboratories as needed. - Assist
in the preparation, and implementation of research activities related to
the migration health, tuberculosis and sexually transmitted diseases. - Assist
in developing potential health and migration projects/programmes for the
Mission. - Participate
in the work of the Mobile Team Unit on missions outside Rwanda when
requested by the Head of Planning, Monitoring and Follow-up/Head of Mobile
Mission. - Assist
in medical escorting sick migrants to various destinations when appointed
by MHD Nairobi, Kenya - Perform
such other related duties that may be assigned by the Head of Migration
Health Assessment Centre.

Desirable Qualifications and experience
- Degree
in Medicine – MBCHB - Registered
with Rwanda Medical Council - Minimum
of 2 years continuous professional working experience preferably with
experience in migration health, immigration medical assessments,
epidemiology and/or international public health; - Health
sector experience in Africa;
a)
Special training/experience in Paediatrics, Internal Medicine or Infectious
Diseases is an advantage

Languages
Excellent
command of spoken and written English is required. Knowledge of French,
Kinyarwanda and Swahili language an advantage.
