Mother of three kicked out house after losing her job as a result of COVID-19 lockdown

Annet Mbabazi, a mother of three was on Wednesday left homeless after her landlord kicked her out of the house she has been renting since March last year.

Mbabazi is a resident of Nansana West IIA in the Wakiso district and accuses her landlord, Patrick Kitande, of not being passionate and cool after tossing her out of the house,  she is a single mother with three children to look after.

She disclosed that she had been paying sh300,000 a month, and attributed her distress to the Covid 19 Pandemic for losing her new job as soon as the government declared the lockdown.

“I used to export fruits to Rwanda but when the Uganda-Rwanda border closed, I was unable to continue with the job, so I decided to get other alternatives and I got another job.

But as soon as I had settled on my new job, COVID came in and a lock down was declared, then I lost it all,” Mbabazi said.

According to the area village defense staff, Joseph Lutwama, Mbabazi had entered into an arrangement with her landlord at the local council office promising to pay rent debts in June, which did not happen, and was therefore thrown out of the house.

“When the time agreed in the agreement reached, Mbabazi didn’t turn up. This made her landlord angry and decided to kick her out of the house.” Lutwama revealed.
