Siya Kakkar, the 16-year-old Indian TikTok star who committed suicide killed herself after she allegedly received ‘threats’.
Known for her dance videos, the fast-growing star was found dead at her home in Preet Vihar, New Delhi.
Hours before she killed herself, Kakkar shared a smiling video of herself on top of a building in New Delhi.
The girl had received ‘threats’ on the internet, according to family reports, but police said they could not explain the motive at the current point of the investigation.
Police in Delhi confirmed to India Today Television the cause of death, saying: “Siya died by suicide at her residence in New Delhi at around 9pm on June 25. She lived with her family.
“Her family is in shock and has requested privacy. No suicide note has been recovered.”
Police have also confirmed that her phone has been confiscated but it is yet to be unlocked.
Her manager Arjun Sarin, who handled all her work and endorsements, announced the news of her death
Arjun said, “This must be due to something personal…work-wise she was doing well. I had a word with her last night for a new project and she sounded normal. Me and my company Fame Experts manage lots of artists and Siya was a bright talent. I am heading to her home in Preet Vihar.”
Siya Kakkar has been very active on social media sites such as TikTok, Instagram , Snapchat and YouTube and has been known for her dance videos. She had more than 104k Instagram followers and more than 1.1 million TikTok followers.
