Rwanda’s national airlines, Rwandair has announced a prolonged suspension of commercial flights into the country following a recent cabinet meeting opening up tourism and hospitality activities including holding hotel meetings.
The cabinet reopened to domestic and international tourism on June 16. Yet only those on charter flights are allowed to international tourists.
The airline said Rwanda’s airspace will remain closed to commercial flights to curb Covid-19 ‘s spread into the country.
“Rwandair will, therefore, extend the temporally suspension of passenger flights until the restrictions (on Coronavirus) are lifted,” the airline said in a statement this June 17, 2020.
The airline also said, however, that customers who have previously made reservations (Rwandair tickets) have the option of rebooking with the airline and flying in at no extra cost at a later date, or offering a travel voucher if they are not sure of their dates.
“Affected customers may contact Rwandair via reservations or their travel agents if their booking was not made directly with the airline. Further updates will be provided in 15 days,” Rwandair said on twitter.
