Hervé Rugwiro has been appointed the new Rayon Sports skipper following Eric Rutanga ‘s exit, who last month crossed to local rivals Police.
Rugwiro, 27, joined Rayon in July 2019 as a free agent from APR.
“It is a great honour to be given the captaincy responsibility,” In an interview on Sunday, Rugwiro said he was looking forward to the challenge and guiding the Blues to trophies.
He added: “As the captain, my job is to inspire team spirit and confidence in my players. With support from coaches and club management, I believe we will achieve our goals next season.”
Back in June 2013, the towering central defender inked his first professional contract with APR and won several titles including three league titles in a row from 2014 and 2016.
The new contract with Rayon for the Rwanda international will expire with the season 2020/2021.
