Rwanda, Brazil to sign air space agreement

Rwanda’s national carrier, Rwandair, could quickly begin navigating Latin American skies, following this  afternoon’s Air Space agreement to be signed in Kigali.

A Bilateral Air Service Agreement (BASA) will be signed today by the Government of Rwanda and the Government  of the Federative Republic of Brazil – a move that could see Rwandair airline join the Latin American market.

The arrangement seeks to improve business aircraft activities between the two nations, according to an email sent  by the Ministry of Infrastructure (Minininfra) to KT Press.

The contract will be signed at the Infrastructure Ministry headquarters in the capital city of Kigali.

During the first eight months of the year, the national carrier Rwandair, which introduced its Airbus A330-300 airplane christened ‘ Umurage ‘ to Guangzhou’s Southern China business town on June 18, was busy.

The airline had been engaged in fresh routes to Kinshasa, DR Congo, Tel Aviv in Israel before opening its activities  in Guangzhou, as well as a partnership agreement with world-class passenger service giant Amadeus signed in January this year to provide world-class customer service.

It is anticipated that both Guangzhou and Tel Aviv routes will increase Rwandair’s fortunes by exploiting current booming trade between Rwanda and China, as well as increasing partnerships between Israel and Rwanda, mostly boosted by Agriculture and ICT.

This implies that with the Airspace agreement with Brazil, Rwandair will begin to extend its reach to Latin America remotely linked to African nations.
