After a video displaying a Nigerian senator assaulting a female emerged online, Nigerians voiced their anger on Twitter on Tuesday.
The lawmaker, representing the northern senatorial district of Adamawa, Elisha Abbo, was shown in the footage of CCTV slapping a nursing mother attempting to appease him.
The assault, reportedly took place in an adult sex toy shop on May 11, 2019, in the presence of an armed policeman who arrested her rather than assisting the victim.
The senator is yet to make an official statement in response to the incidence.
When Punch’s newspaper approached the lawmaker, he did not refute the allegation, but assured that he would offer an official statement the allegation by stating that “A robust response as soon as he put a team together.”
