Rackspace is seeking an experienced Technical Product Manager to join the growing team in our Rackspace Cloud division. The position will be responsible for taking high level Requirements/Use Cases and working closely with the development organization to create detailed technical requirements/stories for new services and features to grow the Rackspace Cloud business. We are looking for someone who is passionate about technically defining and influencing the next-generation of cloud products.

Responsibilities:
– As a Technical Product Manager, partner with a Product Manager and have ownership for a product line or multiple products
– Act as a SCRUM Product Owner and develop detailed requirements and stories for the development team from the high level requirements from the Product Manager.
– Act as a representative of a customer (Developer) who is extensively using Cloud RESTFul APIs to ensure that the API Contracts are intuitive and easy to use to achieve intended goals.
– Play an active role working closely with the development team in the definition of the API contracts.
– Provide technical inputs to help the Product Manager defining the roadmap.
– Technically research competitors’ products, assesses competitive advantages and determine what product features and functionality will be built.
– Be an active user of the Cloud API and provide samples and training to customers.
– Work closely with Operations and Support team to ensure that their requirements are met to allow for High Uptime (Availability) and excellent customer experience using Rackspace Cloud Products.
– Play a proactive role in product & sprint planning and design to ensure the product meets requirements.
– Provide input to the SCRUM Master and the program management team on resource negotiation, managing workloads, and setting schedules
– Involved throughout the entire lifecycle of the assigned products, working closely with engineering teams from product initiation to delivery and eventual product retirement

Job Requirements

The ideal candidate will have the following:
– BS in Computer Science or Engineering.
– 5+ years experience developing or managing high-tech products; cloud computing, hosting, server virtualization technology or SaaS is a plus.
– Background in Networking is highly desirable.
– 2+ years of experience developing software using Scripting Languages. Experience with Ruby or Python is a plus.
– Excellent knowledge of the Agile Methodologies like SCRUM product with relevant experience in all phases of a Product Life Cycle.
– Experience with detailed product release planning and execution
– Proven ability to communicate with customers and understand markets
– Excellent understanding of business as it relates to the hosting and cloud computing industries
