Ongwanada, an agency providing supports to individuals with an intellectual disability, is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to provide leadership, direction and management to assigned residential and day programs. Ensuring the provision of staff, equipment and supplies for the functioning of the respective areas, as well as being responsible for the quality of care provided.
FULL-TIME COORDINATOR
RESIDENTIAL AND CLIENT SERVICES
DUTIES:
Management of Residential Areas:
– ensuring that accurate written reports are kept of client programs (daily reports, medications, sensory reports etc.)
– reviewing medical and behavioural
issues and ensuring follow-up with Residential Supervisors;
– ensuring that the total residential program meets the needs and objectives of each individual;
– interpreting policies and program philosophy to residential staff and ensuring that these are followed;
– providing a continuity link amongst all residential services through membership on relevant committees in order to ensure that all residential areas are working together towards the same goal.
Provides direction and supervision to assigned Supervisors
– defining the roles of staff in conjunction with other disciplines;
– developing and interpreting policies and program philosophy to residential staff and ensuring that these are followed;
– monitoring the budget allocations and reporting on variances;
– promoting and maintaining harmonious relationships between staff and other departments to ensure that the needs of clients are paramount;
– interviewing applicants for positions within the residences in conjunction with the supervisors;
– completing an annual performance review, in addition to setting individual objectives for each assigned Residential Supervisor;
– measuring and evaluating the effectiveness of programs and implementing changes as directed;
– investigating incident reports involving clients or staff and ensuring corrective actions;
– participating in residential planning development.
Provides organizational and administrative duties:
– developing annual budget requirements for the assigned residences;
– reviewing with the Residential Supervisors the new and replacement equipment needs;
– ensuring the designated residences remain within budget allocation;
– ensuring the staff allocation of financial and human resources are being maximized through efficient expenditures and deployment of staff;
– resolving accommodation for staff on WSIB (Workers Safety Insurance Board) with Human Resources;
– participating as an active member on Ongwanada committees as assigned;
– performing “on-call duty” during off-hours as assigned;
– performing on a rotational basis the duties of the Assistant Executive Director, Residential & Client Services, during designated absences;
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
– A degree relevant to the field of developmental disabilities from a College/University of recognized standing, or a combined equivalent of education and experience.
– Excellent supervisory skills to lead and manage several residential programs is required
– Knowledge about managerial principles and practices through educational means or through experience is required
– Must have a thorough understanding of developmental residential issues and who can express that understanding in the design and implementation of programs leading to the continuation of successful residential programs.
– Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
– Excellent organizational and administrative skills (budgeting, negotiating, supervisory, etc.)
– Proficient computer and presentation sills are required
– Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities would be an asset
– Bilingualism (English & French) would be an asset.
Wages: Commensurate with training and experience
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week.
